Dar es Salaam, February 23rd 2012. Precision Air-Tanzania's leading airline has today announced that it has adjusted its departure time to Johannesburg from 20:00hrs to 17:00hrs so as to provide its passengers with an early arrival and onward connections.
Speaking at the airline’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Precision Air’s Acting Commercial Director Mr. Patrick Ndekana said that the decision was made after a well found research by the airline, which suggests that passengers prefer travelling earlier so as to catch up with suitable onward connections, as well as assurance of safety for passengers ending at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport.
“Starting 29th February 2012, we will be departing Dar es Salaam at 17:00hrs, arriving in Johannesburg at 19:45hrs,” Mr. Ndekana said.
“We believe that the unprecedented change in schedule will attract more traffic and provide even better business for our airline,” he added.
However, the Director also mentioned that the departure time from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam will not be affected. “It will remain to be 23:50hrs and arriving Dar es Salaam at 4:20hrs,” he noted.
According to Mr. Ndekana the change is also a sign that Precision Air actually listens and acts upon necessary requests from its customers.
“As a public listed company we believe accepting feedback from our customers and shareholders is a positive thing, which actually adds value to our airline,” he said.
Meanwhile, the airline together with their partner Kenya Airways have introduced an additional flight to its current 4 direct daily flights to Nairobi. This means that the airline will now operate a total of 5 frequencies daily to Kenya’s capital city from its main hub Dar es Salaam.
Commenting on the additional frequency Mr. Ndekana said that the flights will be in collaboration with Kenya Airways, where Kenya Airways will operate 2 flights using their Embraer 190 (E190) while Precision Air will operate 3 times on its B733.”
“The uniqueness of these flights is that all 5 frequencies will be Jet operated, not by using ATR’s, which means convenience for our customers because they will spend less time in the air,” he stated.
The additional frequency to Nairobi from Dar es Salaam is scheduled to start on the same date as the Johannesburg alterations, 29th February 2012.
“There is a lot of potential traffic from Dar es Salaam to Nairobi, and vice-versa - consisting of businessmen and corporate working in various sectors,” Mr. Ndekana said.
The airline has the largest local network comprising; Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Mwanza, Bukoba, Kigoma, Tabora, Musoma, Shinyanga, Mtwara. Regionally Precision Air flies to Nairobi, Mombasa, Entebbe, and now Hahaya and Johannesburg.
